A robot controlled with SMS and email

Teammates: Carter Durno, Steven Macenski, Austin Martinovich

About the project

It's like Twitch Plays Pokémon, but with a robot. Anyone can send a text message or an email with a command, and the robot will perform the action. The object of the game is to drive the robot through cones and then back to the start.

We 3D-printed all parts over the weekend with Steve's homemade 3D printer. My role consisted of using Twilio's and Mailjet's APIs to accept commands. User input was sent to a server running Flask, and the commands were sent via serial communication to our robot's Arduino Uno. The Uno in turn drove the robot's motors and flashed its LEDs.
